On the return drive from a client visit this afternoon I decided to stop at Bennett's Bluff and grab some photos, as I meant to every other time I've driven past it.

Six months of living here and occasionally I still have to stop driving and just stare. If i didn't I'd likely veer off the road while gawking.

"Could I tempt you to do good?"
The Devil laughed. "I am eminently temptable."
"You're not averse to doing good?"
"Of course not! Why would I be?"
"Look, as long as I gain something I want, I don't care how it affects anyone else."
"I thought you were evil?"
"Am I not?"

Good day for a few friendly reminders:

1. Putting topics behind a content warning helps people manage their own stress.

2. Putting uspol in the CW, or #uspol in the text, helps non-US users filter out posts that aren't relevant to them.

3. Setting post visibility to Unlisted or Followers Only can help keep some Home timelines on-topic.

4. Roughly 200,000 of us have been here less than a week, and they're acclimating to a new set of conventions, so let's try to stay constructive.

54% off Yubikeys when you purchase 2. If you haven't made the plunge to 2FA, today would be a good day to start.

I've been playing the last couple of nights and what a wonderful and charming game it is. Stardew Valley fans would surely like it too, though I guess they probably already know.

Imagine being able to follow and interact with Instagram accounts from Twitter, with Pixelfed and Mastodon you can!

Simply search the account url from either Mastodon or Pixelfed and you can follow and interact as if you were both on the same website!

This is the magic of the #fediverse

To all the new users:

Mastodon is like Twitter, but without the crappy attitudes, crappy algorithms and bad manners.

Here you work harder to find peeps, but once you do, it's an amazing place to be and interact with. #twitter #mastodon #fosstodon

This is worth sharing.

It's an animated GIF where every frame is a valid QR code that leads to the "Never Gonna Give You Up" rickroll.

That's kind of amazing.

We have just released a fully FOSS library that allows you to receive notifications using FCM !

This library follows @fdroidorg rules. It means you can now easily have notifications and be published on #FDroid !

I have been wondering FOR MONTHS why oVirt doesn't support shared direct attach SAS storage such as the HPE MSA2040. MS and VMWare both do it...
Now, after going down the GFS2/OCFS2 rabbit hole, I learn it's been there all along. Because what oVirt calls "Fibre Channel", apparently doesn't mean Fibre Channel. It means "any shared block device that's not iSCSI".

I want my wasted brain cycles and googling time back! 😠

We are looking for developer who can work on our #Wayland compatibility issues especially in #KDE.

Even if you cannot commit to this project, helping us addressing one Wayland compatibility issue would be great. We appreciate any contribution in any shape or form 🤗

Please #boost and/or share with your friends to increase the outreach.

Don't confuse privacy with secrecy. We know what happens in the bathroom, but you still close the door. That's because you want privacy, not secrecy. Everyone has something to hide, privacy is something that makes you human.

@bart @linmob Looking with interest at Tow-Boot, and wondering if secure boot plays anywhere into the projects goals? Using custom signing keys of course.
Not sure if this is the purview of the firmware or the individual SBCc, but the tow-boot FAQ and Issues page don't seem to mention it.

Received a new Logitech mouse and keyboard from work recently, MX Keys. One of the first things I wanted to do was pair both to the same receiver.

Expecting the usual trial of passing a USB device to a windows VM to run some proprietary software, on a whim did a quick package search for Logitech. I found , not even an AUR package, it's in the community repo.

Blown away by how good this bit of software is. If you're using peripherals, check it out.

TIL, @Krita is sold, for money, in the Steam store. It seems like it's just a way to donate/support the project, as they explain clearly in the description that it can be obtained for free. But it definitely puzzled me for a minute when I saw it.

Linux networking in systemd is feeling a bit like stacking a tower of blocks with my toddler: Adding a string of netdev devices on top of each other.

We are two months into the New Zealand summer and only today did I take my first proper swim in Lake Wakatipu. The water is still painfully cold for a Queensland ex-pat like me. Despite all my huffing and shuddering though, the kiwi kids along the beach were splashing around like it was nothing. 🏞️🥶🏊‍♂️🇳🇿
